LANDMARKS (2017)

Landmarks are signposts.  They often tell of where one has been, and help show others where they are going.  Most helpful are landmarks that lead the way to a destination not yet reached. Precious are the posts that warn of us of a past not be revisited.

Common landmarks stand anchored to the ground where our feet move. But Providence’s Feet rest on the earth as though it were a footstool. Clouds stand as evidence of His Movement as He works from His Throne in the Heavens.

“The Lord went before them in a pillar of cloud by day to

lead them along the way…” (Exodus 13:21)

and

“…the clouds are the dust of His Feet.”  (Nahum 1:3)

It is well known that one may navigate this world successfully each day and be lost in their very soul.  The clouds must stand as our landmarks if we are to thrive.  The assurance that our Maker intercedes, interrupts and guides is our mainstay.  Our anchor clutches the Heavens, guiding us to live the Kingdom of God on earth.

As the great light traverses these magnificent shadows in the sky, His Glory is proclaimed.  As the day goes in and the day goes out, His existence is perpetually declared.  May we be the fortunate ones, who in gazing in the air for a temporary release from the mundane, see Him ride on the Clouds to gather us to Himself forevermore.

“Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man…they will see [Him] coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”  (Matthew 24:30)
